Our goal is to help reduce or eliminate your pain. We focus on finding the right approach for you. Our pain management services include interventional pain procedures, pain management programs and rehabilitation.

Our pain specialists

Our pain specialists are doctors who have further qualifications in pain medicine. They will develop a personalised pain management plan with you including self-management strategies and life skills to practice when you are at home.

They work closely with our pain management team to help you and your family including psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, dietitians, speech pathologists, nurses and spiritual care workers.

Our Pain Medicine Specialists may recommend interventional treatment to minimise or eliminate your pain. These treatments use safe evidence-based technologies such as nerve blocks, nerve stimulators and a range of advanced medical options aimed to reduce or eliminate pain.

Pain management programs may include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, exercise and strength training, educations sessions, psychological support, social support, relaxation and stress management, cognitive behaviour therapy, tai chi, hydrotherapy and sleep management.

Referrals process

Pain Specialists and Rehabilitation Specialists can only refer to our Pain Management program. Patients will require a GP referral for a consultation with one of our Pain Specialists and Rehabilitation Specialists prior to attending the pain management program. Our Pain Medicine service offers assessment, management services and programs for patients experiencing persisting pain. This includes post trauma, surgery and pain arising from chronic medical conditions.
Our services include consultation for hospital inpatients and a pain clinic for people living in the community.  
When pain continues to be experienced even after tissue has healed and the pain lasts for more than three months, this is called persistent or chronic pain.

  • Nerve blocks such as selective nerve root blocks (TFE), epidural and caudal injections, coeliac plexus blocks and sympathetic blocks
  • Joint injections including: SI joint and facet joint injections for back pain
  • Radiofrequency ablation of nerves
  • Neuromodulation— spinal cord stimulators, PNS, intrathecal pumps
  • Epidural steroid injections
  • Facet joint blocks and medial branch blocks
  • Pulsed radiofrequency neurotomy
