Biography

A/Prof Matthew Ku is a clinical and laboratory haematologist with extensive experience in malignant haematology, particularly lymphomas and multiple myeloma. He also has experience in clotting and bleeding disorders.

A/Prof Ku is currently the lymphoma stream lead at St Vincent’s Hospital, as well as the principal investigator on multiple important international clinical trials. He is a member of the Australasian Lymphoma Alliance, the Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group, and the American Society of Hematology.

A/Prof Ku’s PhD focused on novel pathways in acute myeloid leukaemia. Subsequently, his postdoctoral lymphoma/myeloma fellowship involved managing patients with complex conditions in clinical studies. He has had multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national and international haematology conferences. In addition, he has ongoing involvement with the Leukaemia Foundation as an invited speaker for the Lymphoma Teleconference Forums.

A/Prof Ku completed his medical degree at Monash University and undertook his advanced training at various Melbourne and Sydney academic tertiary hospitals. He received fellowships from both the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia as well as the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2012.
