Biography

Prof Andrew Stevenson is a colorectal surgeon with a clinical interest in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted colorectal surgeries, and colorectal cancer.

Prof Andrew Stevenson is committed to offering his patients the most up-to-date minimally invasive procedures. He started utilising robot-assisted techniques in 2009, and performed the Southern Hemisphere’s first documented robot-assisted male pelvic exenteration. He’s also undertaken extensive training in transanal total mesorectal incision (TME), and has contributed to an international consensus on its use in rectal cancer.

A keen researcher, Prof Stevenson has had work on laparoscopic ventral rectopexy procedures published in peer-reviewed journals, and is an executive member of the Queensland Clinical Oncology Group. He’s held the position of Chairman for the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand’s Training Board and is an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland.
