Biography
Dr Ang is a highly qualified and passionate individual. His drive for research is reflected through his experience and qualifications. He has subspecialty advanced training in glaucoma and cataract surgery; and a special interest in macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
Dr Brian Ang graduated in medicine from the University of Edinburgh in 2000 before completing his ophthalmology training in Norwich, England and Aberdeen, Scotland in 2009. He then furthered his glaucoma training under the tutelage of Professor Augusto Azuara-Blanco (Aberdeen), Dr Tarek Shaarawy (Geneva), and Professor Anthony Wells (Wellington).
Brian currently holds an appointment as a Consultant in Glaucoma at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, where he takes an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and mentoring.In addition to his clinical research publications of cataract surgery and glaucoma management, Brian has published a book for aspiring ophthalmologists about how to be selected for an ophthalmic training programme.
Brian is currently part of the Expert Advisory Panel for Glaucoma Australia and the webmaster for Vision & Eye Health, a patient information website on common eye diseases and ophthalmic surgical procedures.
