Biography

Dr Daniel Mullany is a highly-qualified intensive care specialist with interests in adult cardiothoracic critical care and high-risk surgical patients, consulting at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside.

Dr Mullany graduated from the University of Queensland in 1987 where he also received a half blue for Athletics. He completed training in the specialties of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in Queensland in 1998, including a fellowship in cardiothoracic anaesthesia. He then undertook further training in Critical Care at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, USA, with international leaders in medical safety and quality. After returning to Brisbane, he was a staff specialist then Director of Intensive Care at The Prince Charles Hospital before joining St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside in 2010.

As well as extensive clinical experience, Dr Mullany actively participates in education and research. He is an Associate Professor, University of Queensland involved in medical student and junior doctor teaching, assessment, and supervision of research higher degree students.

Dr Mullany has received awards for clinical care, teaching and maintains a public hospital appointment. He has co-authored over 80 peer reviewed publications and his research focuses on how to better understand and improve patient outcomes in complex environments.
