Biography
Dr Daniel Wk Chiu is an ophthalmic surgeon and retinal specialist with a particular interest in posterior ocular trauma surgery, complex combined anterior and posterior segment surgery and transscleral sutured posterior chamber intraocular lens placement.
Dr Wk Chui graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne in 1992. His early interest in ophthalmology developed during his residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. After being awarded a gold medal of excellence and a scholarship for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists Part 1 examination, he undertook training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne.After completing his registrar training, he entered fellowship training in retina and vitreoretinal surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. This was followed by further retinal surgery training in the UK at the Oxford Eye Hospital.
Since returning home, Daniel has entered private practice in the field of medical and surgical retinal diseases. Recently, he travelled to the US and UK to study advances in stem cell research and paediatric vitreoretinal surgery.
Daniel has published articles in local and international ophthalmology journals and continues enthusiastic involvement in teaching and training of junior registrars and international fellows.
