Biography
Dr Emily Farrell is a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician at St Vincent's Private Hospital Brisbane.
Dr Farrell is a recent Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA).
She is a GP by primary specialty qualification having trained regionally on the North Coast of NSW then worked as a GP with special interest in women's and sexual health, musculoskeletal and sports medicine and adult general medicine in Brisbane. Prior to medicine, Dr Farrell studied and worked in the field of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and studied visual arts at TAFE.
Her tendency to always be working with complex patients with physical and psychological multi-morbidity - the majority with persistent pain - along with her procedural interest, led her to formally pursue the specialist pain medicine physician training.
She has a particular skill in working with neurodivergent patients. While her practice philosophy is of holistic, trauma-informed, values-based care with a life-style medicine focus, she believes that judiciously selected procedural interventions in specific patients are an integral part of this.
