Biography

Dr Evan Willingham practises general surgery with a focus on bariatric surgery. He is a strong advocate for the transformative effect weight loss surgery can have on his patients’ lives.

Dr Willingham was the first surgeon in the Toowoomba region to introduce the minimally invasive keyhole technique for weight loss surgery.

After graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Evan went on to work in general practice for 3 years. His time as a general practitioner gave him an appreciation for the importance of offering true holistic care to his patients and he continues to adopt this philosophy in his practice as a general and bariatric surgeon.

Deciding to pursue his passion in surgery, Evan returned to the Royal Brisbane Hospital to complete his specialist training in general surgery and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2006.

Evan has been performing weight loss surgery and general surgery in Toowoomba since 2009.
