Biography
Associate Professor Gary Galambos is a general psychiatrist with a broad skill set that combines medication, psychoeducation, individual and family psychotherapy. He is recognised for his clinical skills, compassion and commitment to his patients.
Gary has particular clinical interests in mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders, as well as youth mental health. He is dedicated to improving mental health literacy by providing lectures, training, supervision and mentoring to psychiatry trainees, career medical officers in psychiatry, medical students, general practitioners and allied health clinicians within the public and private sectors, and developing MindSkiller, a specialist-grade digital mental health platform that provides resources for help-seekers and their families and a person-centred care ecosystem for help-providers and healthcare services.Developing early intervention services for young adults with emerging mental disorders has become Gary’s special interest over the past ten years. In 2012, he began practising at Uspace, the young adult mental health service at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Sydney, where he is currently the Medical Director and a Consultant Psychiatrist for inpatient care.
Dr Galambos served for many years as a Councillor to the Medical Benevolent Association of NSW, a charity centred on helping doctors in distress suffering psychosocial problems. His passion for advocacy has also led him to leadership roles within the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
