Biography

Dr Karl Baumgart is an allergy specialist and immunologist with a special interest in how our individual genes can affect our response to a drug.

Dr Baumgart oversees testing for allergic and autoimmune diseases, as well as conducting DNA testing, genetic testing and pharmacogenomic testing.

After graduating from The University of Sydney, Karl trained in clinical immunology and allergy at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He completed extensive research into the immunology of infectious diseases and obtained his PhD from the University of Sydney in 1996.

Dividing his time between the laboratory and clinical practice, Karl is also dedicated to improving patient care. He is an active member and one time President (2005–6) of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy.
