Biography
Dr Kate Kearney is a consultant physician and cardiologist who is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians.
Dr Kate Kearney is a consultant physician and cardiologist who is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Dr Kearney graduated in medicine from the University of Sydney in 2012 and is currently completing her PhD at the University of New South Wales with the support of an Australian Government Research Training program grant and a St Vincent’s Clinic grant. Dr Kearney completed her cardiology training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, as well as training in pulmonary hypertension and advanced heart failure.Dr Kearney has a keen academic focus and maintains an academic appointment at the University of New South Wales as a Conjoint Associate Lecturer. She teaches medical students from the University on a regular basis.
Dr Kearney specialises in pulmonary hypertension, heart failure and is undertaking subspecialty training in adult congenital heart diseases. She is highly skilled in transthoracic echocardiography, stress echocardiography, transoesophageal eachocardiography and right heart catheterisation. She also uses novel cardiac MRI techniques as part of her research.
Dr Kearney’s ongoing research is in pulmonary hypertension, non-invasive assessment of intra-cardiac pressures and invasive haemodynamics.
