Biography

Dr Martin Masterson is a cardiologist with an interest in the treatment of atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias, as well as the management of syncope, pacemakers and defibrillators.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Ireland in 1975, Martin travelled to Australia to complete his specialist cardiology training at the Royal Newcastle and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals in NSW, and London’s St Thomas’s Hospital. He subsequently undertook a further fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology and pacing at the renowned Cleveland Clinic in the USA.

Upon his return to Brisbane in 1988, Martin was appointed Director of Electrophysiology and Pacing at the Prince Charles Hospital, a position he filled for over a decade, before establishing a successful private practice, 'Queensland Cardiology'.
