Biography

A/Prof Melanie Lovell is a palliative medicine physician. She chairs the working party which developed and updates the Australian Cancer Pain Guideline on the Cancer Council Australia wiki platform.

A/Prof Lovell is lead investigator on a National Breast Cancer Foundation funded cluster randomised controlled trial of implementation strategies for the Australian Cancer Pain Guideline. She is co-lead of the Supportive Care Pillar for Sydney Vital, and investigator with state (ImPaCCT) and national (PaCCSC) Palliative Care trials groups.

She has appointments as Clinical Associate Professor at University of Sydney and Adjunct Professor at UTS, teaching medical students palliative care, cancer pain assessment and management, and spirituality. She also chairs the working party that developed and updates the National Cancer Pain Management guideline housed on the Cancer Council Australia website.

Associate Professor Lovell is a clinical senior lecturer at Sydney Medical School. Melanie was awarded her PhD in 2009 from The University of Sydney and then went on to become Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in December 2001.
