Biography
Dr Patrick Coleman is a highly trained kidney specialist committed to improving quality of life through personalised care.
Dr Coleman is an experienced nephrologist dedicated to providing comprehensive patient care. Using evidence-based outcomes and effective team communication, he aims to improve quality of life through a holistic and engaged approach. He has special interest in hypertension, obstetric medicine, anaemia and peri-operative procedure.Patrick graduated in medicine from University College Cork, Ireland in 1991 with a short study overseas on the Sunshine Coast. Taking further training in nephrology, he also held the position of special lecturer in medicine at the Mater in Dublin. He gained membership of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland in 1997, going on to work as a staff specialist in general medicine at the Mater, Dublin until 1999.
On returning to Australia in 2000, Patrick completed his advanced training in nephrology at Royal North Shore and Westmead Hospitals. Whilst working as a staff specialist in nephrology, he also held the position of clinical superintendent in medicine at Westmead Hospital between 2003-2004.
Since that time, Patrick has been based on the Northern Beaches as a consultant in general medicine, hypertension, general nephrology, obstetric medicine, management of anaemia and peri-operative medicine. He has a particular interest in training and education and previously co-chaired the Workforce Training and Education Group of the NSW Renal Services Network. He was also Director of Prevocational Training and Education at Manly Hospital between 2010-2015.
