Biography
Dr Roy Hopkins is an Australian trained Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric and General Surgeon.
Dr Hopkins has accredited subspecialist training in Oesophago-gastric and Bariatric Surgery. He is an approachable and compassionate person, who puts the quality of life of his patients at the forefront of his treatments. He believes in evidence based practice and working closely with the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible outcome for all patients.

Roy grew up in New Zealand and completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Master of Science by Thesis before moving to Sydney to study medicine. He graduated from Sydney University with Honours in 2007 and undertook his junior medical officer and general surgery training in Central Sydney through RPA and Concord Hospitals.
Roy obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery in 2016 and was subsequently accepted onto the highly competitive Australian and New Zealand Gastro-Oesophageal Surgery Association (ANZGOSA) post Fellowship program. He subsequently relocated to the United Kingdom where he worked at the Bristol Royal Infirmary followed by the Greater Manchester Oesophago-Gastric Service at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.
