Biography

Dr Vinesh Appadurai is a leading cardiovascular imaging consultant cardiologist, specialising in advanced echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and cardiovascular CT, consulting at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside.

His clinical expertise includes heart failure, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, and cardiovascular prevention. Dr. Appadurai is dedicated to offering personalised, world-class care for a wide range of heart conditions.

Born and raised in Brisbane, Dr Appadurai earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Cell Biology and completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at The University of Queensland. His comprehensive cardiology training includes fellowship of the royal Australasian college of physicians (FRACP), Fellowships in advanced echocardiography at The Prince Charles Hospital and advanced cardiovascular imaging at the prestigious Northwestern Memorial Hospital in the USA. At Northwestern, he worked alongside global leaders in echocardiography, cardiac CT, and cardiac MRI, contributing to international trials in heart failure and valvular heart disease. Additionally, he completed a pioneering fellowship in cardiac amyloidosis and now serves on the Fellowship Council for the International Society of Amyloidosis.

Dr. Appadurai is also a passionate educator and researcher. He is currently completing a PhD on advanced strain mechanics in cardiac disease and is an author on upcoming international guidelines for the clinical applications of strain imaging, in collaboration with the American Society of Echocardiography and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging. His research spans novel diagnostic techniques in echocardiography and cardiac MRI, and his work is regularly published in leading medical journals. He also presents his research at local and international conferences.
