Biography

Mr James Thomas is an orthopaedic surgeon consulting at St Vincent’s private Hospitals. He specialises in surgery of the hand and wrist and looks to provide the best outcomes.

Mr Thomas is experienced in all forms of hand and wrist surgery, such as arthritis and joint replacement, fractures, nerve and tendon injuries, tumours, carpal tunnel, Dupuytren’s disease, ganglion cysts.

James graduated from the University of Melbourne and went on to specialise in orthopaedic surgery. He completed a Doctorate of Medicine Research fellowship with the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery at the University of Melbourne. James then moved to Brisbane to undertake a hand fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, followed by invaluable hand surgery training in the UK. To further enhance his expertise in hand surgery, he then undertook a fellowship in hand surgery in the US.

Upon his return to Melbourne, James commenced his private surgery practice with the Victorian Hand Surgery Associates. He also has a keen interest and involvement in medical education programs.
