Biography

Mr Jason Ooi is a urologist who strongly believes in treating patients respectfully, explaining management clearly and offering evidence-based treatment advice.

Mr Ooi is a Melbourne-trained urologist with special interests in minimally-invasive (laparoscopic and robot-assisted) surgery, holmium laser stone ablation, Greenlight® laser surgery of enlarged prostate, vasectomy and scrotal surgery. He has completed over 500 laparoscopic prostate and renal tract operations.

Jason graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1995 with honours. He completed two years of advanced general surgery training at Austin Health. He was awarded his urology fellowship in 2004 after three years of advanced training. He worked in Royal Surrey County Hospital, UK from 2005 to 2006 to advance his interests in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and uro-oncology. Jason then undertook advanced laparoscopy courses in Paris and travelled to US for DaVinci® robot-assisted surgery training and prostate cancer brachytherapy training.

He participates in multidisciplinary meetings and research activities. He has presented at national and international conferences with numerous research publications.
