Biography

Mr Michael Hong is a colorectal surgeon committed to providing comprehensive and multidisciplinary treatment plans and high-quality surgery for all his patients. He has a special interest in colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, haemorrhoids, and colonoscopy.

Michael commenced his medical studies at the University of Melbourne in 2001 under a National Medicine Scholarship. After graduating with honours, he concluded his specialist general surgical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, before pursuing subspecialty training in colorectal surgery through the Australia and New Zealand Training Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. During this time he gained significant experience in advanced laparoscopic colorectal procedures.

Michael has also completed a Doctor of Medical Science on the use of administrative data for surgical outcomes. He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed international journals, and he is an Honorary Fellow in the Department of Surgery, University of Melbourne.
