Biography
Prof. John O'Donnell is a Melbourne-based Orthopaedic Surgeon, and was one of Australia’s first surgeons to perform arthroscopic hip surgery and anterior approach hip replacement.
He is committed to delivering the highest quality care in people with hip problems with the aim of regaining their quality of life.John is a highly experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon using the most up-to-date arthroscopic, and minimally-invasive techniques to help reduce pain and recovery time, and deliver the best possible results.
John graduated from the University of Melbourne, and completed orthopaedic training in Melbourne. He then travelled overseas to the UK, France and Austria to extend his training and experience; returning to Melbourne to take up appointments at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital.
John is heavily involved in teaching the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons from Australia and overseas through his fellowship program in hip arthroscopy and joint replacement. He runs an active research program, and has published widely in peer reviewed journals. John is regularly invited to present both nationally and internationally on hip joint surgery because of his experience and acknowledged expertise in his chosen field.
