The Challenge We Face: Across our inpatient wards, some of the beds that patients depend on are aging and in need of replacement. These beds, while having served us well for many years, can now be unreliable at times. They can break down, leading to interruptions in patient care and placing additional strain on our staff. Imagine a patient, recovering from surgery, who is unable to adjust their bed for comfort or safety because the controls no longer work. Or a nurse, trying to deliver the best care possible, but constantly dealing with malfunctioning equipment. This is the reality that we face every day.

The Challenge We Face: Cancer is one of the most challenging diseases known to man, and it touches the lives of many in our community. While oncology plays a crucial role in treating and managing cancer, the journey can be tough for patients and their loved ones. A supportive environment is vital for those undergoing treatment, which is why we want to upgrade our rooms including the sunroom in our Oncology ward. We would like to enhance our spaces to improve and provide the comfort that patients and their families need during their time with us.

The challenge we face: Medical procedures, especially those involving needles, can be deeply distressing for children. In fact, 75% of children, 51% of teenagers and 15% of adults experience significant anxiety during injections and similar treatments. These moments can trigger fear, tears and stress for the patient and their family. This distress can sometimes lead to difficulties during the procedure, increasing the risk of injury to both patients and staff.
