32 Week Maternity Preadmission Appointment - Face to Face

At 32 weeks, expectant mothers are required to attend a Maternity Preadmission appointment at St. Vincent’s Private with one of our midwives. You can bring a support person with you and the appointment can be held at the hospital or over the phone. During this 45-minute appointment, you can ask questions about your upcoming hospital stay, review your maternity history and health information, and undergo an emotional wellbeing assessment through our Gidget Emotional Wellbeing Screening Program. The information shared during this appointment is confidential but will be passed on to your obstetrician. This is a complimentary appointment for patients booked to birth at St Vincent’s Private Fitzroy.
Please note that this appointment does not include a hospital tour, which needs to be booked separately (click here to book)
Dad and Bubs Workshop – Face to face
The Dads and Bubs class provides expectant fathers with valuable information from a male point of view on topics such as supporting their partner during labour, parenting, and forming a bond with their baby. Participants have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, addressing any specific questions they may have and gaining confidence in their role as a father.

This class is exclusively for men and is led by a male facilitator. There is a small fee of $25 per person to attend. Please be advised that no refreshments will be provided during the session.

Refresher Class - Online
The refresher class available in our online childbirth education portal is ideal for women or couples expecting their second or subsequent child who want a quick review. The class covers essential topics such as an overview of labour, birth, and pain management options, hospital arrival information, sibling preparation, and revisiting breastfeeding. In addition to the refresher class, you will have full access to the entire childbirth education portal for further viewing. Following the pre-recorded class, you will have the opportunity to participate in a live Question and Answer session via Zoom to address any additional inquiries. Access to the portal and the Zoom Q&A invitation will be emailed to you on your booked class date.
We recommend scheduling your class for when you are approximately 28-32 weeks pregnant. The portal can be accessed at your convenience, with no specific time requirements to follow. These classes are complimentary for patients booked to birth at St Vincent’s Private Fitzroy.
