As a member of the St Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne team, you'll have the opportunity to practice across our network of four Melbourne locations: Fitzroy, East Melbourne, Kew, and Werribee, expanding your experience and professional network.

Program features include:

  • 12-month program with supernumerary time and graduated workload during your transition
  • Two 6-month rotations across a range of acute clinical areas with additional clinical specialities as an option
  • Potential for a 12-month operating theatre rotation (where available)

We understand that every graduate brings unique interests and career aspirations. That's why our Enrolled Nurse Graduate Program offers personalised pathways tailored to your professional goals. Choose from four rotation options, each designed to build your confidence and expertise:


Acute Ward Based Rotations

Immerse yourself in diverse clinical experiences with two 6-month rotations across our extensive specialty mix. Develop comprehensive nursing skills while working in General Ward areas (as mentioned above). This stream provides the perfect foundation for those seeking broad clinical exposure and versatility.


Mixed Acute Ward and Specialty Rotations

Your journey includes one 6-month rotation in our general ward rotation plus another 6-month specialty rotation (as above). Move between general areas. This stream is ideal for nurses wanting to discover where their passion truly lies.


Operating Theatre Rotations (where available)

Develop advanced specialised skills through a focused 12-month operating theatre rotation. This immersive experience enhances your decision-making abilities and critical thinking in a complex surgical environment while allowing you to build deep expertise in your chosen specialty. Perfect for those with a clear interest in perioperative nursing.


Clinical Support Framework

Our dedicated education team is committed to providing comprehensive support throughout your graduate year. We have established a robust clinical support system designed to facilitate your successful transition to professional practice. 


Our graduates receive extensive clinical supervision and guidance during each rotation, working alongside specialty educators and ward-based clinical coaches who provide hands-on bedside support in a collaborative learning environment. 


You will be assigned a dedicated preceptor for each rotation who will work alongside you to facilitate your professional development and ensure a smooth transition into your role as a registered nurse.

Who is eligible?

If you are registered with APHRA as an Enrolled Nurse (Diploma of Nursing qualification within the last 6 months with full IV endorsement) or will have your AHPRA registration by the commencement date of the program.


How to apply?

All candidates must apply through Workday our online recruitment portal.


All candidates must provide the following:

  • A covering letter, highlighting your clinical areas of interest
  • Succinct Curriculum Vitae, outlining your clinical placements and work experience (no more than three pages), with two recent referees (with email addresses), one of whom must be from a recent acute care placement
  • 1-2 complete acute medical or surgical ward clinical assessment tools (minimum 2 weeks duration)
  • Current academic transcript with legend
